Da Nang (VNA) – The central coastal city of Da Nang on June 14 openedthe “Da Nang- Summer Destination 2019” programme at the Bien Dong (East Sea)Park in Son Tra district.
According to Vice Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong ThiHong Hanh, the event is organised annually to popularise the city as a safe andhospitable destination.
On the occasion, the city also called on local people and tourists to join effortsto protect local beaches by “saying no to plastic waste”.
The six-day programme features a wide range of cultural and sporting activitiessuch as decoration and installation of coracles, coracle shaking competition,and many other folk games.
Among the highlights will be a bikini flashmob, kite flying festival, and musicfestival.
Other events include a photo exhibition on Da Nang tourism, a showcase ofproducts made from recycled materials, and tourism promotion programmes, amongothers.
Da Nang boasts various advantagesfor tourism, from beautiful beaches and sea, to forest, river and lakeecosystems, but it is essential that the city finds its own unique tourismproducts.
Coveringan area of 1,255sq.km, thecity is cited as an entrance to four World Heritage areas including the formerroyal capital city of Hue, Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary in QuangNam and UNESCO-recognised Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh Province.
The city has a total 90 kilometres of coastline and dozens of beaches, of whichMy Khe is well-known as one of the six most beautiful beaches in the world.Meanwhile, the city’s Ngu Hanh Son district is renowned as a centre for stoneart, with Non Nuoc craft village stands at the foot of the Marble Mountain.
Experts said thosenatural advantages, when combined with the city’s modern infrastructure, goodservices, safety and hospitality, create unique traits for the central coastalcity.
In fact, Da Nang hasemerged as a destination of leisure, media and spiritual tourism, as well asentertainment and shopping activities, and a venue of conferences.
Da Nang was named in the top 10 holiday placesin Asia of the prestigious online tourism magazine Smart Travel Asia and top 10fresh destinations of the global online accommodation reservation providerAgoda in 2013.
The listing has enabled the city to reach outfurther to the world, according to Amir Ahmad Mohamad, general manager of HoangAnh Gia Lai Plaza Hotel Da Nang.
In addition, Da Nang International Airport wasranked third among the best airports in the world in 2014, according to asurvey by Dragon Air.

Besides, Sun Wheel, which is115 metres in height and situated in Asian Park, Hai Chau district, Da Nang,was listed among the 10 tallest wheels in the world.
The US’s New York Times listed Da Nang among 52 places to go in 2015.
On the list of the world’s top 10 destinationsfor 2018 compiled by the online marketplace and hospitality service Airbnb, DaNang was ranked fifth in booking surges of up to 255 percent.
In 2018, the city was ranked the second mostpopular destination for solo or couple travellers, according to the Republic ofKorea’s Ticket Monster Inc. The websitesaid people who plan to travel abroad with family members often chose Da Nang.-VNA
