Havana (VNA) - On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2025), Cuban journalist Luis Manuel Arce Isaac has affirmed that Vietnam’s revolutionary press has played an important role in the past struggle for national independence and safeguarding, and the country’s construction and development at present.

Extending his congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of “Thanh Nien” (Young People), the first revolutionary newspaper in Vietnam, the war correspondent of the Latin American News Agency (Prensa Latina) noted the thought of President Ho Chi Minh – the founder of “Thanh Nien” weekly - had shaped the ideological values of journalism’s role in the struggle for national liberation.

Arce Isaac emphasised that in the today context of socio-economic development and growth, the professionalism of Vietnam’s revolutionary journalists continues to rise, guided by exemplary mastery of new information technologies and the modernisation of their founding principles to preserve the enduring values of revolutionary journalism. He regarded this as one of the major achievements of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology in relation to the press.

Assessing the role of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the occasion of its upcoming 80th founding anniversary (September 15, 1945-2025), the Cuban journalist expressed admiration for how VNA has evolved into one of the world’s advanced and modern news agencies. He affirmed that the agency’s historical role deserves recognition throughout its formation and development and in its future contributions, as it remains an essential channel through which the world can gain a reliable understanding of everything Vietnam has undergone since the last century.

Its strategic approach to international relations and collaboration with media agencies worldwide has earned VNA great respect from journalists around the world, he stressed.

Commenting on the cooperation between VNA and Prensa Latina, journalist Arce Isaac affirmed that it is a beautiful expression of solidarity and friendship - one of the strongest partnerships in the world among international news agencies, among revolutionary journalists, and among patriots./.
