Thai Binh (VNA) - A delegation from the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture led by Minister Ydael Jesús Pézez Brito held a working session with the People's Committee of the northern Thai Binh province on December 10 to share experience and explore agricultural cooperation opportunities.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lai Van Hoan highlighted Thai Binh's strategic advantages, noting its prime location within the coastal economic corridor connecting the northern Delta region's economic zones. The province boasts favourable geographic conditions, a well-planned and integrated infrastructure system for electricity, water and telecommunications, and an abundant, highly skilled workforce.

Thai Binh considers agriculture as a key pillar in economic development, contributing to ensuring national food security and aiming to become a leading agricultural production hub in the Red River Delta, with a focus on large-scale, concentrated rice production linked to the processing industry, he said.

Hoan expressed his willingness to share expertise in the planning of transport and irrigation systems, seed and rice production, as well as sought Cuba's support in biotechnology application, organic farming, and medicinal plant cultivation.

Pérez Brito recalled the recent high-level visit to Cuba by Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam, during which leaders of both Parties agreed that Vietnam would assist Cuba in developing rice and other crops to help Cuba ensure food security in the coming years.

Cuba is eager to enhance agricultural cooperation with Vietnam, particularly with Thai Binh, he said, revealing that the Cuban Government has introduced preferential policies specifically designed to attract Vietnamese investment in the agricultural sector.

🌌 Earlier, the delegation visited the crop research institute and the seed processing factory of Thai Binh Seed JSC to gain first-hand insights into its agricultural capabilities./.
