He was born in 1911 in Loc Thuycommune, Le Thuy district, and central Quang Binh province. He passedaway in Hanoi on October 4 last year at the age of 103. As an eminent disciple of President Ho Chi Minh and the first Generaland Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army, he led his peopleto victory over both French and American armies.
