COVID-19: Thailand expands areas under restrictions

Bangkok (VNA)💯 – The Thai Government onAugust 18 announced the expansion of restrictions to three more provinces as the country reeled under unprecedented numbersof coronavirus infections and fatalities on the third consecutive day.

Accordingly, curfew from 9pm to4am and other restrictions will be imposed in the provinces of Chonburi, Ayutthaya and Chachoengsao from July20. Also on July 18, Thailandlogged a record 11,397 infections with 101 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringingthe total caseload and deaths to 403,386 and 3,341, respectively. On July 17, Indonesia announcedadditional 51,952 infection cases and 1,092 deaths, raising the totalrespective numbers to 2,832,755 and 72,489. The same day, the PhilippineHealth Ministry reported 6,040 more new cases, pushing the national count to1,502,359. With 122 more deaths in the past 24 hours, the fatalities amountedto 26,598./.
