COVID-19 forces cancellation of 2020 musical award ceremony

Voting and award ceremony of the 2020 Cong hien (Devotion) Music Awards will be cancelled due to complicated development of the COVID-19 outbreak, announced the organisers on March 12.

Hanoi (VNA) – Voting and awardceremony of the 2020 Cong hien (Devotion) Music Awards will be cancelled due tocomplicated development of the COVID-19 outbreak, announced the organisers onMarch 12.

The annual event is held by Vietnam NewsAgency’s The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports and Culture) newspaper.

Initially, the voting was slated for March11 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the award ceremony, for March 21 in HCMCity.

Ballots will be sent to reporters viaemails on March 19 and must be sent back by two days later. This will be thefirst time online voting has been applied in the 15-year history of theprestigious awards.

The newspaper will present the awards to winnersof the nine categories at its HCM City-based office on March 25.

The annual Devotion Music Awards began in2004 to promote Vietnamese music and honour artists with significant contributionsto the industry./.
