Hanoi to host Viet Pride festival
The fourth Viet Pride for the lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender (LGBT) community in Hanoi will be held from July 30 to August 2.
A dance festival “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” will come to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time as the fifth event is scheduled to take place in the southern hub and the traditional venue of Hanoi from October 1 to 4.
It will feature six dance pieces presented by the Goethe Institute, Belgium’s Wallonie Bruxelles delegation, the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre (VNOB), the Israeli Embassy, the Polish Embassy, the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, and the Vocational Ballet School of Ho Chi Minh City.
Performances in HCM City will be staged by Wallonie Bruxelles at the Drama Theatre while Hanoi dance enthusiasts can enjoy the works at the Youth Theatre and the Opera House.
Notably, Germany’s Sasha Waltz & Guests, a globally renowned dancing company, will perform two shows at the Hanoi Opera House.
The event organisers include the European Union National Institutes for Culture Vietnam and the VNOB.
The festival, launched in 2011, takes place annually.-VNA
