Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of many countries around the world havecontinued to send letters and messages of congratulations to General Secretaryof the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on hiselection as President of Vietnam.
In her message, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of GreatBritain and Northern Ireland (UK) extended her warmest congratulations to thenew President and people of Vietnam and expressed her wish to strengthen therelationship between the two countries.
Other congratulations also came from President of the State of Palestine andChairman of the Palestine Liberation Organisation Executive Committee MahmoudAbbas, King Carl Gustaf R of Sweden, and President of Uzbekistan S. Mirziyoyev.
The 14th Vietnamese National Assemblyon October 23 elected Nguyen Phu Trong as President of Vietnam.
After the results of the vote wereannounced, the new President had a swearing-in ceremony, vowing to stayabsolutely loyal to the nation, people, and the Constitution of the SocialistRepublic of Vietnam, and to exert every effort to complete all missionsassigned by the Party, State, and people. –VNA
