Beijing (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and ViceGovernor of China’s Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin co-chaired the seventhconference reviewing cooperation results between Vietnam’s ministries andlocalities and the Chinese province in Guangzhou city from June 23-25.

At the event, bothsides focused discussions on measures to foster trade cooperation, expand theimport of Vietnam’s high-quality products, and upgrade An Phong industrial zonein Vietnam’s Hai Phong city.

Addressing the event,Trung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of treasuring its friendshipneighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China, and hoping to boostwin-win cooperation with China in general and Guangdong province in particular.

Speaking ofcollaboration results between Vietnamese localities and Guangdong, he suggestedboth sides maintain all-level delegation exchanges to enhance mutual trust andunderstanding, effectively implement common perceptions reached by the twocountries’ senior leaders, and continue intensifying collaboration ineconomics, trade, investment, transport, finance, science and technology,agriculture, culture and tourism.

He asked Guangdong to facilitatethe access of Vietnam’s goods, particularly agro-fishery-forestry products andprocessed products, to the province and China at large, encourage its hi-techbusinesses operating in processing, clean energy and hi-tech agriculture toinvest in Vietnam.

Ouyang, in turn,affirmed that Guangdong attaches importance to developing its relations withVietnam’s ministries, sectors and localities, and is willing to coordinate withthe Vietnamese side in carrying out cooperation programmes, especially in thefields of economics, trade and investment.

Guangdong hopes thatVietnam’s authorized offices would consider preferential policies for theconstruction of the An Phong industrial zone.

On this occasion, theVietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister had meetings with Governor of Guangdongprovince Ma Xingrui and Deputy Minister of Industry and Information TechnologyWang Jiangping. He also attended and delivered a speech at a forum to promoteVietnam-Guangdong trade and investment, which attracted representatives frommore than 170 enterprises of Vietnam, Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Guangdong is the onlyChinese locality which has a cooperation mechanism with Vietnamese ministries,sectors and localities. Trade between Vietnam and the province enjoyed ayear-on-year increase of 34.2 percent last year, reaching 37.16 billion USD,accounting for 25.1 percent of the total trade turnover between the twocountries.-VNA
