Conference promotes tourism links in Viet Bac, China’s Guangxi

Tourism links between Vietnam’s six northern provinces, known as Viet Bac, and China’s Guangxi province were the focus of a recent conference held in Lang Son province.

Lang Son (VNA) – Tourismlinks between Vietnam’s sixnorthern provinces, known as Viet Bac, and China’s Guangxi province werethe focus of a recent conference held in Lang Son province.

The event washeld on the sidelines of the annual “Through Viet Bac Heritage Sites” programmein Lang Son province fromNovember 3 – 5.

Addressing theevent, Director of the Lang Son Department of Culture, Sports and TourismNguyen Phuc Ha said Viet Bac, comprising Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Ha Giang,Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen, holds great potential for eco-tourism and culturaltourism as the region is renowned for its beautiful landscapes and historical sites such as Ba Be Lake, LeninStream, Pac Bo Cave, the NhiThanh and Tam Thanh grottos,To Thi Mountain and the TanTrao historical site.

Lang Sonprovince, which shares a border with Guangxi, has taken steps to strengthen tourism links between LangSon and Viet Bac, and the Chinese province, Ha said.

To make VietBac an attractive destination, a joint action plan is needed for the six provinces to focus on promoting signature tourismproducts, he said.

Hiscounterpart from Cao Bang, Truong The Vinh, said the provinces need expertconsultation alongside support policies and special mechanisms for the development of tourism.

Otherdelegates also said theprovinces should acceleratethe promotion of unique tourism products, conduct surveys about tourism products, attend travel fairsand cultural exchange festivals, and facilitate the growth of travel agenciesand tourism businesses.

DeputyDirector General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ngo Hoai Chungsaid the administrations in Viet Bac must focus on developinglocal infrastructure in terms of transportation, telecommunications andelectricity to facilitate tourism growth.

They shouldalso provide support for tour operators, adopt incentives to lure more tourisminvestors, and beef up promotions for tours linking Viet Bac and Guangxi, he added./.
