Concert celebrates Vietnam-Spain relations

Spanish conductor Unai Urrecho and pianist Alexander Selitser will perform at a concert celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Spain in HCM City on June 24.

HCM City (VNA) - Spanish conductorUnai Urrecho and pianist Alexander Selitser will perform at a concertcelebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Spain at theHCM City Conservatory of Music on June 24.

They will collaborate with theconservatory’s Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra in performing works by Granadosand Beethoven.

The concert will highlight the secondvolume of Granados’ 12 Danza Espanola for piano called Andaluza. The programmewill also include Piano Concerto No 5 and Symphony No 7 by Beethoven.

Conductor Urrecho began as an orchestramusician at an early age in the Arrasate Musical Symphony Orchestra. Hecompleted his conducting studies under Maestro Sygmon Kawalla at ChopinUniversity in Warsaw, Poland.   

He teaches at the University of Suwon, theRepublic of Korea. He was founder and artistic director of Hwaseong AcademyFestival Orchestra, and since 2013 he has been artistic director and principalconductor of Kwangsung Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir.

Pianist Selitser received a doctorate inmusic at the St Peterburg State Conservatory in Russia. He has performed invarious recitals and concerts with orchestras in Russia, Germany, Italy, Spainand the RoK.

Since 2004, he has held the position ofvisiting professor at the University of Suwon. He has offered master classesand acted as a judge at different universities in the RoK.-VNA
