Competition deepens Vietnam’s understanding of Peru

The first prize went to Duong Quoc Trung, a student at theBritish University Vietnam while the second prize was taken by Tran ThiHoai Phuong, a student at Hanoi University and the third by Hoang TrungNghia, a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City’s Economics and Law University.

At the awards ceremony, Charge d’Affairs Luis Tsuboyama said thecontest helped increase the Vietnamese people’s understanding of Peruand promoted cultural exchange between the two nations.
He said each of the contestants had built “a piece of a bridge” between the people of Peru and Vietnam.

The contest, which lasted from July 25 to August 22, 2014, is part of aseries of events to celebrate the 20 th anniversary of Vietnam-Perudiplomatic ties and Peru’s Independence Day (July 28).

Thecontest attracted entries from six cities and provinces throughoutVietnam – Hanoi, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong andDong Thap, as well as from Vietnamese people working in Peru.

In addition to the essay competition, the Peruvian Embassy is organisinga range of events to celebrate the 20 th anniversary of bilateraldiplomatic ties, including a Peruvian food festival in Hanoi and Ho ChiMinh City in November, and a film festival in Hanoi in December.-VNA
