Cold spell hits northern region, temperatures drop sharply

Hanoi (VNA) - Another cold spell ispredicted to hit the northeastern and north central provinces and cities onearly December 11 morning, causing a temperature drop to 9-14 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 9and 11 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas, and from 11-14 degrees Celsius indelta localities, including Hanoi.

Hanoians have already started to experiencetheir winter with temperatures of 15-19 degrees Celsius on December 9 and 10.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorologicalForecasting warned the cold spell would last for 2-3 days.

The centre also said due to the cold spell,showers were forecast to hit Hanoi and the north region from December 11. Atthe same time, torrential rain with thunderstorms would continue to hit centralprovinces from Thanh Hoa to Binh Dinh.

The cold spell would cause rough seas in thenorthern part of the East Sea, including Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, the centresaid.-VNA
