Coffee tourism offers chance for Vietnam’s agro-tourism: webinar

A webinar on coffee tourism’s product development and promotions was held on September 16 by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Embassy of Colombia in Vietnam, with the participation of more than 200 delegates of the two countries.

Hanoi (VNA) – 🥀A webinar on coffee tourism’s product development andpromotions was held on September 16 by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) andthe Embassy of Colombia in Vietnam, with the participation of more than 200delegates of the two countries.

Coffee tourism is an emerging type of tourism and currently offered mainly inthe Central Highlands, home to the largest areas of coffee cultivation in Vietnam.Tourists can visit coffee plantations and learn of coffee growing and processingmethods, among others. At the webinar, delegates from Vietnam and Colombia sharedexperience and information in coffee tourism, including its development in connection with community-based tourism, linkage between stakeholders in coffee tourism’sproduct development and promotion, along with cooperation prospects between thetwo countries. VNAT Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu said as Vietnam is one of theworld’s top coffee exporters, the combination between tourism and coffeeproduction will raise both sectors’ position and facilitate agro-tourismdevelopment in Vietnam. The webinaris the first of a series of webinars on ecotourism and community-based tourism development to be held this year under a memorandum of understanding inkedby the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry ofCommerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia. At present, Vietnam and Colombia are in the top 10 coffeeexporters of the world. Vietnam is the world’s second leading coffee exporter, shippingan average amount of about 1.6-1.8 million tonnes per year, raking in 2.6-2.8billion USD./.
