Coffee exports to hit 1.5 mln tones this year

Vietnam’s coffee exports may hit 1.5 million tones, and bring home three billion USD this year, according to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VCCA) Nguyen Nam Hai.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s coffee exports may hit 1.5 million tones, and bring home three billion USD this year, according to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VCCA) Nguyen Nam Hai. 

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development statistics revealed exports of coffee reached 1.27 million tones, worth 2.25 billion USD in the first eight months of this year, a year on year surge of 40 percent in volume and 20.7 percent in value.

Despite the rise, Vietnam mainly exports raw coffee materials with low value on the international market.

Poor food safety in many coffee processi🎶ng units also affected 👍coffee quality. 

The VCCA requested localities strengthen food safety management in coffee roasting, grinding and processing units nationwide to increase the quality of exported coffee.-VNA
