Co To island district recognised as new-style rural area

The island district of Co To in northern Quang Ninh province has been recognised as a new-style rural area under a decision recently signed by the Prime Minister.

Hanoi (VNA) – The island district of Co To in northern Quang Ninh province has been recognised as a new-style rural area under a deci☂sion recently signed by the Prime Minister.

Located in the east of Quang Ninh, 100 km off the mainland eastward to the Gulf of Tonkin, Co To comprises 50 large and small islands.
The district has two communes and one township with 100 percent of roads linking the communes and villages cemented. As many as 73 percent of local households have access to clean water.
The locality’s average per capita income reached 45 million VND (2,025 USD) in 2014 and annual average growth rate hit 14 percent during 2011-2014. The district’s poverty rate now stands at only 0.49 percent.-VNA
