China allows import of Thai chicken meat

China has allowed the import of chicken meat and by-products from Thailand which is expected to generate 7 billion THB in annual revenue, according to Department of Livestock Development.

Bangkok (VNA) – China has allowed the import ofchicken meat and by-products from Thailand which is expected to generate 7 billionTHB in annual revenue, according to Department of Livestock DevelopmentDirector-General Apai Suttisunk. 

He revealed China'sCertification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) recently certified sevenchicken meat and chicken products factories in Thailand,allowing products from these factories to be exported to China. 

The total value will rise to 20 billion THB shouldthe Chinese authorities give certification to all 19 factories, he said. 

The first lot of Thai chicken products deliveredto China is expected by the end of March with 15 containers of chicken productsworth 30 million THB (nearly one million USD). The products will be transportedthrough Yunnan province to southern China.

Thailand is currently the third biggest exporter of chickenmeat in the world, after Brazil and the US. Many markets have allowed theimport of fresh and processed chicken meats from Thailand such as Japan, theEuropean Union (EU), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), theRepublic of Korea and Singapore.-VNA
