Children in Nghe An get free heart disease screening
More than 3,000 children under 16 years old in the central province of Nghe An received free examinations for congenital heart disease under the programme “Trai tim cho em” (Healthy heart operation).
Nghe An (VNA) – More than 3,000children under 16 years old in the central province of Nghe An received freeexaminations for congenital heart disease under the programme “Trai tim cho em”(Healthy heart operation) held at Nghe An Children’s Hospital from June 7-9.
The programme was organised by the military-runtelecom Viettel’s branch in Nghe An, the Vietnamese Heart Fund of the VietnamTelevision and doctors from the Children’s Heart Centre of Central Children’sHospital, and Nghe An Children’s Hospital.
Poor children found suffering from heart diseasecan apply for free surgery under the programme.
Dr. Nguyen Ly Thinh Truong, Director of the Children’sHeart Centre of the Central Children’s Hospital, said the early detection of heartdiseases will help the kids receive timely treatment and get a normal life.
Since 2011, more than 100,000 children in 46cities and provinces have received free examinations for congenital heartdiseases under the Healthy heart operation programme. More than 1,000 werefound to have the diseases and got help for treatment.-VNA
The 6,000th child with heart diseases has just received free surgery under a programme funded by VinaCapital Foundation, said CEO of the foundation Robin King Austin on January 16.
Free heart disease screenings began on over 800 disadvantaged children under 16 years old in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on December 15.
More than 1,500 children in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak received free screening and consultation for congenital heart diseases on April 19-21.
