Hanoi (VNA) – An art programme to raise funds for people living with HIV/AIDS was held in Hanoi on December 3.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Health and the city’s People’s Committee, was part of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of HIV/AIDS prevention in Vietnam and respond to the national action month for HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
Aside from art performances, the programme also featured documentaries on HIV/AIDS patients.
At the end of the show, organisers announced that individuals, enterprises and organisations donated a total of 5 billion VND (220,000 USD).
On the occasion, 15 savings books worth 10 million VND each (445 USD) were presented to disadvantaged children with HIV/AIDS from eight provinces.
Since 1990, approximately 230,000 Vietnamese people have been found living with HIV. Of these, 85,000 have died of AIDS.
Fully aware of its dangers, Vietnam has carried out many measures to slow the epidemic. As such, thiᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚs year is the eighth consecutive year the country has seen a decrease in the numbers of HIV-infected people, AIDS patients a🔯nd fatalities.-VNA
