Central region chefs to test their skills

The central city of Da Nang hosts the central and north-central region qualifiers for the annual Golden Spoon Awards on August 4-5 at the Golden Phoenix Conference Centre. The event organising committee said 51 top chefs from 17 teams in Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang will compete in the biggest cooking contest in the country. Competitors will take two hours to cook and present a description for the preparation to the event's jury.
Teams will receive financial support for securing food ingredients and transporting these. Organisers said competitors had competed in the qualifiers in the Mekong Delta in Can Tho city; HCM City and East Southern region in HCM City and South Central and Central Highlands region in Nha Trang between June and July. As scheduled, Lao Cai city and Hanoi will host the Northwest region and the Red River Delta and Hanoi on August 25-26 and September 15-19, respectively.
The best 15 teams will qualify for final round in Binh Duong province on December 2. The winners will walk away with a cash-prize of 500 million VND (23,800 USD) and a gift valued at 500 million VND (23,800 USD). Four runners-up will bag 50 million VND (2,300 USD) and a gift worth 50 million VND (2,300 USD) each.-VNA
