Quang Tri (VNA) - CargillCares Council has rebuilt a school in the mountainous commune of Huc in centralQuang Tri province’s Huong Hoa district, its 88th school in Vietnam underits rural school-building programme.
The school in Ho Le hamlet,built in 1994, had part of its roof blown off in a storm last year, making itvery unsafe for children. It had only two classrooms, no restroom and an emptypiece of land for its yard.
Cargill provided 1.52 billion VND(67,000 USD) to rebuild the school with three classrooms, restrooms, a yard, agate and fence, a landslide protection corridor, and a well.
The school is among six theCargill Cares Council has promised to build in 2018-2019 period.
Cargill established its schoolbuilding programme in 1997 to provide students in agricultural communities withaccess to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.

Since 1997, it has providedaround $5.3 million to build schools that now provide education to more than14,000 students in 47 provinces and fund other charity works. Cargill hopes to build100 schools by 2020.-VNA
