Canadian PM extends Tet greetings to Vietnamese community
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on February 5 sent a letter of greetings to the Vietnamese community in Canada and the world over on the occasion of the lunar New Year.

Ottawa (VNA) – Canadian Prime Minister JustinTrudeau on February 5 sent a letter of greetings to the Vietnamese community inCanada and the world over on the occasion of the lunar New Year.
In his letter, the leader said the new year is a chance totake note of the great daily contributions by the community in the country whoare helping build a more beautiful and comprehensive Canada.
Trade, investment and education are the fields of verydynamic cooperation between Vietnam and Canada over the recent years. CurrentlyVietnam is Canada’s biggest trade partner in the Association of Southeast AsianNations (ASEAN).
Canada’s statistics show that bilateral trade value lastyear rose to 6.36 billion CAD (4.8 billion USD), an increase of 4.2 percentover 2017. Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese students who opt to study inCanada is increasing, now at over 14,000, topping those from Southeast Asia andthe fifth in the world. It is noteworthy that the community of 250,000Vietnamese in Canada is serving as an important bridge for the two countriesdevelop their fine relations of friendship and cooperation.
The Vietnam visit by PM Trudeau in November 2017 and the onto Canada by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in July last year are clearmessages of the two countries’ desire to further boost bilateral relations. Ina recent speech, PM Phuc said the Vietnam – Canada relations are now at theirbest in all the fields.-VNA
