Cambodian General praises Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong
Deputy General Secretary of the National Authority for Combating Drugs of Cambodia, General Chey Beaupha has expressed her great grief over the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, who she said, is a clean and exemplary leader that devoted his whole life to the nation and people.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Deputy General Secretary of the National Authority for Combating Drugs of Cambodia, General Chey Beaupha has expressed her great grief over the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, who she said, is a clean and exemplary leader that devoted his whole life to the nation and people.
The official, also Vice President of the Cambodian Alumni in Vietnam Association, told the Vietnam News Agency that she has kept close tabs on the activities of the leader, and been impressed by the speeches he made.
She has a habit of noting down the late Party chief’s statements, given with simple words, and sees them as guidelines for the party’s leadership and state management that she could apply to her current work.
The official said she has been particularly impressed by the notes by “Uncle Trong”, referring to the Vietnamese late leader with warm sentiments, on the Party building and corruption fight in Vietnam.
Regarding Vietnam’s external activities, the Cambodian General held that under the leadership of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the country has developed sound ties with nations in the region and across the globe.
♛ The Vietnamese Party chief also bolstered various cooperation activities between Vietnam and Cambodia, she said, expressing her gratitude towards the Vietnamese Party and State for granting scholarships to generations of Cambodian students./.
Before the start of the state funeral for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at 7am on July 25, large numbers of people flocked to the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi, the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, and his hometown in Dong Hoi commune of Hanoi’s Dong Anh district to pay homage to the beloved leader, an excellent disciple of President Ho Chi Minh.
The passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a great loss for Vietnam’s reform and door-opening efforts, Prof. Miliang, Director of the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies and Dean of the Law School of Beijing Foreign Studies University, has said.
Leaders of the United Nations (UN) and ambassadors of countries to the UN on July 24 paid tribute to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong at the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN in New York, the US.
