Cambodian defence minister: No armed forces entered Thailand

Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh on February 12 denied that Cambodian armed forces have entered Thailand to cause violence during the recent political turmoil in the country.

Thedenial came after Thai reports claimed that Cambodian troops hadallegedly been brought in to create chaos during the anti-governmentprotests in Bangkok.

At a meeting with Thailand’sDeputy Defence Minister in Singapore on the sidelines of the SingaporeAirshow 2014, Tea Banh affirmed that neither Cambodian armed forces nortroops have carried out such action in Thailand. The minister repeatedthe refutation to reporters on February 12 after returning to Cambodia.

He stressed that Cambodia had no involvement inThailand’s internal issues, adding that it has in fact been workingactively to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation with itsneighbour.-VNA
