Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia welcomed about 2.1 millioninternational tourists and 10 million domestic travellers in the first fivemonths of this year, a 530% increase from the same period in 2022, Ministerof Tourism Thong Khon has reported.
Thailand topped the chart among the internationalarrivals to the kingdom during January- May period, followed by Vietnam andChina.
The minister predicts that Cambodia willreceive about 4 million international tourists total for 2023, in additionto at least 16 million domestic travellers.
He said this achievement is in line withthe projections outlined in the ‘Roadmap for Recovery of Cambodia TourismDuring and Post Covid-19’, which is a five-year plan to rehabilitate andrestore the number of international tourists to pre-pandemic levels in 2025 or2026 at the latest.
▨ He said thatpreparing the draft for the National Strategic Plan for Tourism Development2023-2035 is crucial to the journey towards a better future with the rise oftourism in Cambodia, and that it requires the cooperation of relevant ministries,institutions and the private sector.
