The country’s spearheads, which attracted the most foreign investment, included industry (24 percent), real estate (15 percent), agriculture (14 percent), and finance (12 percent).
Investment from Asian countries accounted for 90 percent of the total, and 44 percent of which came from China, Hong Kong (China), Macau and Taiwan (China).
Technical Director General of the NBC Chea Serey highlighted foreign investment in the country has been rising. However, there was no consistency in reported data and fact-figures. The checking was carried out in foreign invested enterprises and foreign joint stock companies from September 2015- February 2016. Chan Sothun from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) said the 20 billion USD foreign investment was much lower than that in other reports of the CDC, which revealed that the total foreign investment in the country reached up to 60 billion USD, of which foreign direct investment was at least 30 billion USD.-VNA
