Cambodia parliament removes CNRP members

Phnom Penh (VNA) – 🌌Fifty-fivemembers of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) were removed fromtheir posts in the National Assembly of Cambodia.

Chairman of Cambodian NationalAssembly Leng Peng Long on November 21 said that all drivers, assistants andprivate secretaries of those CNRP members were also removed. Public assetsincluding cars, computers and devices assigned for them will be revoked. The National Election Committee ofCambodia is set to distribute the seats held by the CNRP in the NationalAssembly and commune councillor positions to other political parties that alsojoined in the election. Cambodia’s Supreme Court on November16 ordered the dissolution of the CNRP in response to the Interior Ministry'slawsuit. The court ruling also banned 118senior officials of the party from politics for five years from the date ofthis verdict issuance. The Interior Ministry accused theCNRP of seriously violating the amended Law on Political Parties, saying theparty had conspired with foreigners to topple the Government.-VNA

Thai Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Vuttikrai Leewiraphan Thailand's formal proposal will be substantial enough for the US to consider further detailed negotiations. He hoped for a tariff rate not exceeding 10% and suggested that the US might extend the negotiation period if an agreement is not reached by the July 8 deadline.
