Phnom Penh (VNA) 🔯– Cambodia and Japan have committed to strengthening their economic and trade ties.

The commitment was made by President of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin and member of the House of Councilors of Japan Miki Watanabe, who is also Secretary General of the Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association during their meeting in Phnom Penh on December 16.
Watanabe said his visit aims to boost ties between the Cambodian Lower House’s Friendship Association and the Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association and foster Japan-Cambodia relationship in economics, trade and education. He pledged to convince more Japanese investors to Cambodia, both in the private and state frameworks.
Heng Samrin, for his part, further noted the growing Japanese investments in Cambodia which have created jobs for Cambodian people and contributed to the Cambodian economic growth. On December 15, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An and a representative from the Japan International Cooperation Agency signed an aviation management agreement worth 1.5 million USD. Japan helped Cambodia build schools in over 100 locations nationwide.-VNA
