Cambodia extends deadline for foreign employee quota application

Cambodia has extended the deadline for foreign employee quota application to January 31, 2022, two months after the original deadline, according to the Khmer Times on December 8.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia has extended the deadline for foreign employee quotaapplication to January 31, 2022, two months after the original deadline,according to the Khmer Times on December 8.

Businesses in Cambodia employing or intendingto employ foreign employees must apply for a foreign employee quota to theMinistry of Labor and Vocational Training (MLVT). The MLVT imposes a maximum 10percent quota of an employer’s total workforce for the use of foreignemployees. This comprises office employees (3 percent), skilled labour (6 percent),and unskilled labour (1 percent).

Once a company has received its quota, it canthen apply for work permits through the Foreign Workforce CentralizedManagement System (FWCMS).

If a business wishes to hire foreign nationalsin excess of the foreign employee quota, they will need prior MLVT approval.

𝓰 Foreign workers looking to work in Cambodiawill need a valid business visa (E-class visa) which is initially valid for aperiod of 30 days and could be extended for a maximum of one year. They mustalso obtain a work permit and employment card./.
