Hanoi (VNA) - Cambodia'stourism revenue reached 4.92 billion USD in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 13percent, according to the Ministry of Tourism’s report released on February 26.

Cambodia attracted 6.61 millioninternational tourists in 2019, up 6.6 percent from the previous year, thereport said.

China was the biggest source of touriststo Cambodia with 2.36 million Chinese visiting the Southeast Asian country, ayear-on-year rise of 16.7 percent. It was followed by neighbouring Vietnam andThailand.

The tourism sector, one of thefour sectors supporting the economy, contributed 12.1 percent to Cambodia'sgross domestic product (GDP) last year, according to the report.

The Ministry of Tourism forecastthat the country is likely to receive 6.45 million international tourists thisyear, a year on year drop of 2.4 percent due to the impact of the COVID-19outbreak.

Two days earlier, Cambodian PrimeMinister Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced that the government decided to provideall kinds of tax breaks for all hotels and guesthouses in northwestern SiemReap province for a period of four months from February to May.

The PM said the tax exemption wasaimed at helping them overcome this difficult moment./.
