
Quang Ninh (VNA) – Cai Chien island,dubbed the “forgotten paradise”, is a must-see destination in the northeasternprovince of Quang Ninh.
It is the only island commune in Hai Hadistrict, about 330 km from the capital city of Hanoi.
To reach the island, visitors have to move toHai Ha port, about 40-50km from Mong Cai city, by car or motorbike.
Cai Chien island covers nearly 2,500 hectareswith 120 households and 550 people. It attracts visitors by its pristine beautyand peaceful atmosphere that are rare to find in other places.
Coming to Cai Chien, holidaymakers can immersethemselves in another world, making a break with the hustle and bustle of bigcities.
Most of the beaches in the island have beenuntouched with long stretches of white sand.
Lying in the east of the island, Dau Rong(dragon’s head) beach is considered the most beautiful with blue sea and a 2km stretchof sand. Coming here, vacationers can be spoilt for swimming or stroll alongthe beach to enjoy the fresh air.
They also can rent a boat to visit Thoi Xanhisland. From here, they can look out to Co To, Hon Trui and Hon Vinh Thucislands.
Particularly, Cai Chien island is endowed with arich forest ecosystem, including many wild species.
Life on the island is very rustic. Visitors canride a bike or take a stroll to learn about culture and daily life of locals.They can also get up early to enjoy the fresh air and see the sunrise.
The most interesting way to explore Cai Chienisland is camping. It is a good idea to go with friends and together join a BBQparty right on the beach.
Cai Chien is also popular for its fresh seafooddirectly caught by islanders.
In June 2019, the provincial People’s Committeerecognised Cai Chien communal island in Hai Ha district as a provincial tourismsite.
In recent years, the number of tourists to CaiChien has been increasing thanks to the untouched beauty of the island.
Local authorities have encouraged people to joinhands to keep the environment in the island clean, green and beautiful, andhave opened training courses on community-based tourism.
Dozens of households in the island have investedin homestay tourism with hundreds of rooms to serve holidaymakers.
The tourism sector in Quang Ninh province hasbeen growing at a fast pace in recent years.
Quang Ninh is endowed with natural advantagesfor sea and island tourism. It has a coastline of more than 250 kilometres andmore than 2,000 islands and islets which account for two-thirds of the totalnumber in Vietnam.
It is home to popular destinations such as HaLong Bay, Bai Tu Long, Ha Long Bay National Park and some islands.
In particular, Ha Long Bay literally “descendingdragon bay”, was twice recognised as a World Natural Heritage site by UNESCO in1994 and 2000.
In 2018, Ha Long Bay made it into the top 15Instagrammed global cruise destinations based on a survey of 1.8 million poststagged on various ships and ports by travel cruise site SeaHub.
Last year, Quang Ninh hosted the NationalTourism Year 2018 under the theme “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, FriendlyDestination”.
The province welcomed 12.3 million visitors,including 5.2 million foreigners, and earned 24 trillion VND (1.03 billion USD)in tourism revenue.
The operation of the Van Don InternationalAirport in December 2018 is expected to help Quang Ninh achieve its target ofwelcoming 15-16 million tourists, including 7 million foreigners, by 2020 and30 million arrivals, including 15 million foreigners, by 2030.
Therefore, local authorities have been offeringmany incentives to promote the launch of flights to the airport, the first ofits kind invested by a private business in Vietnam.
Passengers on flights to Van Don can visit a numberof local attractions including the complex of Yen Tu monuments and landscapes,the world natural heritage site of Ha Long Bay, and Bai Tu Long Bay free ofcharge within 30 days since their arrival at this airport./.
