Cabinet meeting looks into socio-economic situation
Vietnam reaped significant socio-economic achievements in the first half of this year despite global uncertainties and domestic difficulties, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told an online conference between the Government and localities, and a regular Cabinet meeting on July 4.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam reaped significant socio-economicachievements in the first half of this year despite global uncertainties and domesticdifficulties, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told an online conference betweenthe Government and localities, and a regular Cabinet meeting on July 4.
He pointed out that the world situation developed complicatedlyover the past time with strategic competitiveness, the conflict in Ukraine,soaring fuel prices, escalating inflation in many countries, and the ongoingCOVID-19 pandemic, among others.
The pressure of high inflation, surgingcommodity prices and disrupted supply chains could be felt in Vietnam, the PMcontinued.
However, under the sound leadership of the Party led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and with thesupport of the National Assembly and the drastic management of the Government, engagementof ministries, agencies, localities, people and businesses, and the support ofinternational friends, Vietnam has brought the pandemic under control andensured macro-economic stability and major economic balances.

The country has also worked to safeguard itsindependence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; maintain social security,order and safety; intensify external relations; step up administrative reformand anti-corruption; and improve people’s living standards, Chinh said.
The leader also spoke of the scarcity of drugs andmedical equipment at home, and problems relating to the disbursement of publicinvestments and the implementation of national target programmes.
The participants are scheduled to look into the country’ssocio-economic development in June and the first six months, and major tasksand solutions in the time ahead.
They will review the implementation of thesocio-economic recovery and development programme, the disbursement of publicinvestments, and the implementation of key national transport projects and thenational target programmes./.
National Assembly (NA) deputies on June 1 discussed the implementation of the socio-economic development plans and the state budget in 2021 and in the first months of 2022 as well as the settlement of bad debts of credits institutions.
The Government convened its monthly meeting on June 4, discussing the socio-economic situation in May and the first five months of 2022 and reviewed the implementation of the government’s socio-economic recovery and development programme and the allocation and disbursement of the State budget this year.
Ensuring security and social order should go hand in hand with socio-economic development, and the expansion of foreign relations, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong told a conference in Hanoi on June 17.

The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
