Ca Mau (VNA) – Theauthorities of the southernmost province of Ca Mau have urged its health sectorto improve the quality of healthcare.

Suggested measures include developinga modern health system allowing all people to access basic health services.

The province will encourage thedevelopment of non-state health services, expand healthcare at home andincrease health insurance coverage.

In 2017, Cau Mau aims to havedoctors at all commune-level health centres, reduce the rate of ill-nourishedchildren to 11.8 percent and raise the rate of health insurance coverage toover 80 percent.

In 2016, the province madeefforts to develop hea𒅌lthcare infrastructure and provided health checks. Allgrassroots💎 health centres now meet national standards.-VNA

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.
