Building the North-South expressway; the destination set

In just the past two years, the transport sector has achieved a miracle as a series of component projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway have been completed and put into operation, transforming the country's transportation landscape.

Hanoi (VNA) -ꦿ In just the past two years, the transport sector has achieved a miracle as a series of component projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway have been completed and put into operation, transforming the country's transportation landscape.

In 2023, the Ministry of Transport put a series of major national projects, including nine expressway segments totaling 475km in length, into operation, raising the country's operational expressway network to 1,892km. According to the plan, the last two projects, totaling 130km in length, among the 11 component projects of the North-South Expressway for the 2017-2021 period, are scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of this year. This will extend the total operational expressway network to 2,021km.
Based on the current pace, in just two more years, the component projects of the North-South Expressway for the 2021-2025 period will reach completion to meet the goal of achieving 3,000km of operational expressways by 2025, promising a breakthrough for both the region and individual localities.

The North-South Expressway Component Projects for the 2021-2025 phase promise to create breakthroughs for both the region and each locality.
𓂃 As a contractor involved in various bidding packages for the North-South Expressway projects, Cao Dang Hoat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dinh An Group Limited Liability Company, expressed satisfaction. All projects his company participated in have successfully met the commitments made to the Prime Minister and the leadership of the Ministry of Transport.

Putting aside the days of 'grabbing meals on the go, and lack of sleep,' looking back on the journey so far, according to Nguyen The Minh, Deputy Director of the Investment Management Department of Construction, most of the expressway projects that reached completion in 2023 had to race against time amidst numerous challenges.
With this success, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang emphasized that the Government and the Prime Minister have shown special, close attention and resolutely directed ministries, sectors, and localities to coordinate and overcome difficulties. They have issued numerous resolutions with specific mechanisms to address challenges and difficulties regarding material sources. On the other hand, the Ministry of Transport has launched movements with the dual purpose of encouragement and motivation, as well as serving as a "directive" for project participants to strive and implement round-the-clock shifts, and construction during holidays and Tet. With resolute guidance, and timely policy adjustments by the National Assembly, Government, Prime Minister, Minister Nguyen Van Thang pledges that the Ministry of Transport will strive to essentially complete the entire Eastern section of the North-South Expressway from Lang Son to Ca Mau by the end of 2025. The country will have 3,000km of expressways, contributing to the successful implementation of the Party's resolutions and the plans of the National Assembly and Government./.
