Building strong Youth Union to deserve Party’s trust

Over the past years, the Party and State have been building the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union into a politically and ideologically strong organisation, the force inheriting the socialism building, the trustworthy reserve force of the Party, and the political nucleus of the Vietnamese youth’s movements and organisations.

Hanoi (VNA)🔯 – Amid the social environment today that may negatively affect the young’s awareness, thought, and action, young people need to be oriented, build up their mettle, and unceasingly study and make self-improvement so as to become the pioneering force in implementing socio-economic development tasks and construct and firmly safeguard the socialist Vietnam during the international integration process.

In an interview with VietnamPlus, Nguyen Anh Tuan, First Secretary of the 11th Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee, said during the 2015 - 2020 tenure, the Party organisation of the HCYU Central Committee has paid great attention to the Party building as seen in two specialised resolutions. The first one is on improving the quality of Party members, and the second on promoting the quality of specialised meetings of its subordinate Party cells and organisations. Thanks to the realisation of these two resolutions, the serious examination and supervision, along with the good leadership over activities of the HCYU’s socio-political organisations, encouraging outcomes have been recorded in the Party building. The biggest result in the Party building at the HCYU Central Committee’s Party organisation during the last tenure is the serious implementation of the Party Central Committee’s resolutions, he went on.
Particularly, there haven’t been any Party members found to have shown signs of self-evolution, self-transformation, or degradation of politics, thought, morality, and lifestyle. Tuan described this as an approving outcome attributable to political and ideological education, the good performance in examination and supervision, and the issuance of early warnings for Party members. Notably, the quality of Party cells’ activities has been enhanced while criticism and self-criticism at those events have received due attention, helping Party members make self-improvement and prevent any signs of self-evolution, self-transformation, and self-degradation, he noted.

The HCYU, founded and trained by the Party and late President Ho Chi Minh, is tasked with serving as the trustworthy reserve force of the Party, he said, pointing out that to perform this function, the union must do a good job of three issues.
The first is to gather, unite, and educate the young so that they are alive to the Party’s ideal and follow the Party on the revolutionary path. The second is to introduce outstanding HCYU members for admission to the Party. And the third is to seek quality young cadres for the Party and the political system. Among these issues, the most crucial task is to educate, train, and nominate eminent HCYU members for admission to the Party so that the Party can gain a new source of vitality to lead the country to prosperous development. Tuan noted Resolution No 25 of the 10th Party Central Committee sets up the target that 7 percent of the Party members newly admitted each year are nominated by HCYU units. Basing on this resolution, a number of activities were carried out in 2020, especially those on improving the quality of eminent HCYU members, to select outstanding persons for admission to the Party. He told the reporter that compared to previous generations, young people now have highly favourable conditions as they are living in a peaceful and stable environment and the country, as Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong said, has never enjoyed such fortune, international standing, and prestige as it does today. The Party, State, and all-level administrations have issued many policies caring for the development of the youth. However, he admitted, the social environment has, to some extent, also negatively impacted the awareness, thought, and action of young people.
The HCYU official called on each young people to be more responsible towards themselves so as to make self-improvement and at that time, they will become more responsible towards their agencies, units, and the country. If all the 24 million young Vietnamese people are aware of their responsibility towards themselves, their agencies, their localities, and the Fatherland, it will be a great source of strength for realising the targets and vision that the Party has set up for the 2030 - 2045 period, Tuan added./.
