This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam-China land border treaty and 15 years since the signing of three legal documents on the land border between the two countries.

The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education has presented certificates of merit to 30 collectives, including the World News Department of the Vietnam News Agency, and 16 individuals for their outstanding performance in the external information service and communications about seas, islands, and land border.

Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the National Border Committee Le Hoai Trung has hailed the significance of the signing of two legal documents on land border demarcation and border marker planting between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception on October 4 for visiting President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

A meeting was held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 26 to review external information work and the dissemination of information about seas, islands, border demarcation, border marker planting and land border management in 2017 and set tasks for next year.

The central province of Quang Tri and two bordering Lao provinces - Savanakhet and Salavan - have signed an agreement on cooperation in border affairs and border marker planting for 2017-2018.

The inauguration of border markers along the Vietnam-Cambodia border on Dec. 26 illustrated the two countries’ resolve to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
