Cairo (VNA) – ThreeVietnamese tourists were killed in Egypt when a roadside bomb blast hit theirtour bus near the country’s world-famous Giza pyramids at 18:15 of December 28(local time), affirmed the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt.

According to the embassy,there were 18 people on the bus at that time, including 15 Vietnamese touristsand three Egyptians. Besides the three Vietnamese victims, one Egyptian guidewas also killed.

Right after the incidentoccurred, Egypt’s authorised officials brought the victims to El-Haramhospital in Giza province.

Vietnamese Ambassador TranThanh Cong visited the wounded victims at the hospital, and worked with localofficials, including Tourism Minister Rania Al-Mashat and Health Minister HalaZayed, to seek solutions to the case.

He asked the Egyptian side tocreate favourable conditions to repatriate the Vietnamese victims and touristsas soon as possible, and soon arrange meetings with local authorised agencies to carry out citizen protection to ensure thelegitimate interests of Vietnamese citizens.

He shared that the Egyptianside had promised to facilitate the repatriation of Vietnamese visitors who arenot injured, and create all favourable conditions in terms of necessaryprocedures for the deceased.

Egypt’s interior ministrysaid the bus was hit by an explosion from an improvised device hidden near awall on Mariyutiya street in Al-Haram district.

Egyptian Prosecutor-GeneralNabil Sadek then requested an immediate investigation into the deadly bombattack.-VNA
