Ben Tre’s people commemorate Cuban leader Fidel Castro

A commemoration was held on December 4 by authorities and people in Moncada Village - Luong Hoa commune, Giong Trom district, the southern province of Ben Tre to pay tribute to Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro Ruz, who passed away on November 25.

Ben Tre (VNA) – A commemoration washeld on December 4 by authorities and people in Moncada Village - Luong Hoacommune, Giong Trom district, the southern province of Ben Tre to pay tributeto Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro Ruz, who passed away on November 25. 

The passing of Fidel Castro is a great loss to people in Luong Hoa commune, whichwas chosen to set up twinning ties with Cuba. 
Local people were deeply sorrowful when hearingthe news on the passing away of Fidel Castro, a great friend of them, saidDeputy Secretary of the communal Party Committee Pham Huu Nghia.

The local authorities and people held the ceremony to show their respect forthe great leader of the fraternal Cuban people, he added.

Nguyen Thi Lai, a resident in Luong Hoa commune, said the images of FidelCastro are always associated with the revolutionary heroism, while expressingher admiration to the Cuban leader. 

Entertainment activities in the locality had been canceled as a way toexpress the locals’ sorrow at the death of Fidel Castro, said Nguyen Cong Tham,another local.

ꦺ Luong Hoa commune was twinned with Cuba in 1983 with the name “MoncadaVillage” and a cow farm in Cuba was also named “Ben Tre Village”.  The villages are symbols of the solidaritybetween the two nations.-VNA
