Believed-to-be prehistoric items unearthed in Binh Phuoc

BinhPhuoc (VNA) – Three stone hoe-shaped objects believed to date backabout 3,000 years ago have been found in Nghia Trung commune of Bu Dangdistrict, the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

They were discovered by a resident in hamlet 8of Nghia Trung commune in late April.

Phan Huu Hien, Deputy Director of the Binh PhuocMuseum, said the museum compared the items with stone tools unearthed in otherarcheological sites kept at the museum, indicating they are hoes from the NewStone Age.

Sharing this view, Assoc. Prof. and Dr. Bui ChiHoang, from the Southern Institute of Social Sciences, said the objects areprehistoric stone hoes. There are no signs showing that they were used, meaningthey could have been worship objects.

Similar items had been found in the CentralHighlands provinces of Dak Lak and Dak Nong, but this was the first time suchobjects were discovered in Binh Phuoc, he added.

The three antiquities are being kept at the BinhPhuoc Museum for further studying.-VNA
