Belgium funds water supply project in Binh Dinh

A total of 84,000 people in seven communes in Phu Cat and Tuy Phuoc districts, the central province of Binh Dinh, now have access to safe water as a new water supply facility was put into operation on September 27.

The facility, which sits in Cat Nhon commune,Phu Cat district, has a daily capacity of 5,600 cubic metres. It wasbuilt at a cost of more than 104 billion VND (4.8 million USD) with over65 billion VND funded by the Belgian Government.

PermanentVice Chairman of the Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee Ho QuocDung said the new facility is part of a water supply and hygiene projectin Binh Dinh province under a cooperation programme between the twoGovernments.

The project, which lasts from August 2009 to July2014, will cost a total of 8.95 million EUR (12 million USD), with 7.5million EUR coming from Belgium.

The project’s objective is toimprove community health and living standards in An Nhon town and thedistricts of Hoai Nhon, Phu My, Phu Cat, Tuy Phuoc and Tay Son.-VNA
