Bamboo Airways launches three air routes to Hai Phong

Vietnam’s newest airline Bamboo Airways officially opened commercial air routes from the northern port city of Hai Phong to the central coastal city of Quy Nhon, the southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho at a ceremony on May 10.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s newest airline BambooAirways officially opened commercial air routes from the northern port city ofHai Phong to the central coastal city of Quy Nhon, the southern economic hub ofHo Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho at a ceremony on May 10.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

With one round-trip flight per day for each of the threeroutes, flight duration for the Hai Phong-Quy Nhon route is estimated at about 1hr 35 mins, Hai Phong-HCM City at 2 hrs, and Hai Phong-Can Tho at 2 hrs 5 mins.

This will be the first three air routes in the airline’splan to build a network of flights connecting Hai Phong’s Cat Bi International Airportto domestic airports in the central coastal city of Da Nang and Phu Quoc islandin the southern province of Kien Giang, as well as to international destinationslike Thailand’s Bangkok, Singapore, the Republic of Korea’s Seoul, and Cambodia’sSiem Reap.

Bamboo Airways has sold tickets for new routes atpromotional prices starting from 200,000 VND (8.6 USD) for flights during May10-16.

Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of the Hai Phong People’sCommittee, said the city is committed to funneling 5 billion VND (214, 297 USD)and 10 billion VND into supporting the opening of new air routes from Hai Phongto domestic and international destinations, respectively. Cat Bi airport served2.3 million arrivals and 14,000 flights last year, with the figure expected toincrease to over 2.5 million and 16,000, respectively.

By the end of April 2019, Bamboo Airways conducted nearly4,000 flights with the rate of punctuality being over 92 percent, the highestin the aviation sector.

In 2019, the airline aims to increase the frequency of dailyflights to 100, serving 5 million passengers.

It strives to conduct flights on 37-40 domestic andinternational air routes this year. –VNA
