This is an activity to celebrate the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21).
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Competition Organizing Committee Nguyen Si Cam emphasized that reading culture plays an important role in the development of each country. This is the driving force to promote the formation of citizens with courage, intelligence, creativity as well as ethics, healthy lifestyle and the desire to build a prosperous and happy country.
In recent years, the Party and State have paid special attention to developing reading culture, promulgating many guidelines and policies to build a reading environment and make reading habits a regular, daily practice.
The "Reading Culture Ambassador" contest has been jointly organized by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training since 2019, receiving the attention of leaders at all levels, branches, agencies, units, and localities and received positive responses. of teachers, teachers, parents, pupils and students.
This year's contest started on April 16 with the theme "Reading books - changing lives", for pupils and students of elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, intermediate schools, and colleges in the province.
Contestants will write articles, make videos introducing characters in books that have inspired them, guide themselves to a positive lifestyle, or write a sequel to a story or book they have read to spread the love of books.
The Organizing Committee will award five collective prizes to schools with the most participating candidates and the highest number of prize winners; 45 individual awards, including 1 outstanding "Ambassador of Reading Culture" award, 4 awards "Outstanding Ambassador of Reading Culture".
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.
