Ba Ria-Vung Tau to host int’l kite festival

The International Kite Festival will take place in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria -Vung Tau from December 6-11, expecting to draw 67 artisans from 23 countries and territories, the organising board revealed at a press conference on December 1.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau(VNA) – The International Kite Festival will take place in the southern coastalprovince of Ba Ria -Vung Tau from December 6-11,expecting to draw 67 artisans from 23 countries and territories, the organisingboard revealed at a press conference on December 1.

The week-long festival,themed Dance of Peace, will be held in Bien Dong resort, Vung Tau Intourco, Paradise golf course, Phuoc Nguyen secondary school in BaRia city, and Huynh Tinh Cua secondary school in Long Dien district.

The Vietnamese delegationcomprises 30 artisans from northern, central and southern regions and kiteclubs of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

According to the organisingboard, the festival will see the competition from artisans from Brazil, NewZealand, Germanyand Sweden.

The highlight of the eventis a kite show on December 10 night in Paradisegolf course in Vung Tau city. Preparations for the 136-minute show with 20segments have been underway for months.

Participating kite artisansand connoisseurs will also teach kite-making skills to local students, while introducingthe history and origins of various kite types, thus inspiring them to preserveand promote the art.-VNA
