Australia, Indonesia enhance cyber security cooperation

Jakarta (VNA) – The Australian andIndonesian governments have agreed to boost cyber security partnership,targeting preventing financial resources related to terrorism.

The agreement was reached at a meeting betweenCoordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto, head ofthe Indonesian delegation, and Attorney-General George Brandis, head of theAustralian delegation, in Jakarta on February 2.

The two sides called on all countries to step upcollaboration to prevent terrorism, violence, and extremism to look towards asafer world.

Within the framework of the security dialogue,the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (AUSTRAC) and itsIndonesian counterpart centre (PPATK) signed an agreement to focus on theprevention of terrorism financing and money laundering.

Both centers will launch a new project laterthis year to help Indonesia enhance its capacity to cope with the increasing numberof online threats.-VNA
