Sydney (VNA) – A project to improve the knowledge and capacity ofVietnamese businesses in hi-tech agriculture will be soon carried out byAsialink Business of Melbourne University and Beanstalk AgTech of Australia.

The project is part of the Australia-Vietnam EnhancedEconomic Engagement Grant Pilot Programme (AVEG) of the Australian Departmentof Foreign Affairs and Trade. It is expected to equip Vietnamese agriculturalproducers with practical information and understanding of newly-emergingconsumer trends over the globe.

Asialink Business Manager Rob Law, who directly manages theproject, emphasised that Australia’s agro-tech ecosystem has a long history andis in a good position to help Vietnamese businesses solve challenges, andsupport the implementation of the rapidly growing technological revolution inVietnam.

He also said that through the project, Asialink willcooperate with Beanstalk to promote and realise the GRAFT Vietnam Challenge2021, a first-of-its-kind landing pad programme for leading AgriTechentrepreneurs to scale up in Vietnam.

On July 1, Australia’s Minister for Trade, Tourism andInvestment Dan Tehan announced the launch of the AVEG. Under this programme, theAustralian Government is providing 2.5 million AUD (nearly 2 million USD) to 28small-scale projects to create economic opportunities and deepen businesscooperation.

The minister is expected to visit Vietnam in a next coupleof days, as part of his two-week tour of Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, theRepublic of Korea and the US to boost trade and investment with the fivepartners./.
