Australia funds Vietnam’s digitalisation initiatives
The third round of the Innovation Partnership Grants under the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Aus4Innovation Programme has opened, targeting initiatives under priority targets of the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology to promote post-COVID-19 recovery.
Hanoi (VNA) – The third round of theInnovation Partnership Grants under the Australian Department of ForeignAffairs and Trade’s Aus4Innovation Programme has opened, targeting initiatives under priority targets of the Vietnamese Ministry ofScience and Technology to promote post-COVID-19 recovery.
The round, with a budget of 1.5 million AUD (nearly 1.16 million USD), isdesigned for tested existing partnerships between Australian and Vietnameseinstitutions that are ready to scale up.
Under the theme ‘Enhancing Digital Transformation’, this round will focus oninitiatives that have the potential to enhance digital transformation in theeconomy and deliver inclusive social impact.
Suggested areas in which applicants could develop their ideas include smartmanufacturing, smart agriculture, digital health, smart education, smartcities, finance and banking, e-government, and natural resources andenvironment.
Those granted with the funding will be required to implement their projectswithin 12 months./.
Agricultural businesses are facing increasing international competition and must use science, technology and innovation to improve their productivity and competitiveness, experts said at a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on September 27.
Winners of the first round of the Innovation Partnership Grants, part of the Aus4Innovation programme, were honoured at an event held by the Embassy of Australia and the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hanoi on October 9.
The second and final round of the Aus4Innovation Partnership Grants, part of the Aus4Innovation programme that aims to help strengthen the Vietnamese innovation system and prepare for Vietnam’s economic and digital future, kicked off on February 11, with total financial support of 2.32 million AUD available.
A key highlight will be the technology cluster pavilion, showcasing top enterprises selected for their innovation, market potential, and practical applications. These firms will display flagship products and solutions, supported by government policies to strengthen the tech sector.
Since 2022, more than 500 Vietnamese startups have engaged in Google’s Startup Academy, Google for Startups Accelerator, and Google Startup Masterclass. Nearly 100 of these firms received support to develop and improve their products, benefiting more than 300,000 customers and creating over 300 new jobs through successful fundraising and team expansion amidst Vietnam’s competitive economy.
Over the past three decades, Binh Duong has cemented its status as one of Vietnam’s most dynamic industrial hubs, building a robust foundation in manufacturing, exports, and investment. The province now has 30 operational industrial parks spanning over 13,000 hectares, with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%.

Vietnam views sci-tech as a decisive factor in national development and a key tool for achieving sustainable development goals, and is ready to boost sci-tech cooperation with Venezuela for mutual prosperity.
