An association of Vietnamese war veterans living in Sverdlovsk province, Russia, was established at a congress held at the Vietnamese Consulate General in Ekaterinburg city on March 10.

Moscow (VNA) 🍒– An association of Vietnamese warveterans living in Sverdlovsk province, Russia, was established at a congressheld at the Vietnamese Consulate General in Ekaterinburg city on March 10.

Addressing the congress,Vietnamese consul general in Ekaterinburg Ngo Phuong Nghi stressed that the establishmentof the association marked an important development of the local Vietnamesecommunity, as it is the first socio-political organisation set up in theRussian locality with the support of the consulate general.

The association gathers formermembers of Vietnam’s armed forces, those who used to work as youth volunteersand conscripted labourers during the liberation war in Vietnam, and former defenceworkers along with their family members.

The consul general asked theassociation to serve as the nucleus of solidarity in the Vietnamese community inSverdlovsk and work to establish links with Russian friends to find and paytribute to former Russian experts who once helped Vietnam in the nationalliberation war.
