Asia discuss measures to preserve cultural heritage

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) convened a two-day meeting at sub-committee level on protecting and respecting cultural diversity, in the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh , starting from July 5.

At the meeting, ten delegations from APA membercountries discussed how to prevent mankind’s cultural heritage frombeing hurt and respect cultural diversity of each country and nation inAsia .

They agreed that governments have todemonstrate their political will and maintain cooperation among APAmember countries while ensuring that cultural diversity will not affectthe socio-economic integration in the region.

Parliaments of APA member countries need to fulfil their roles ininspecting and pushing governments’ actions in implementing policies andconcrete measures in this field, they said.

TheVietnamese delegation to the meeting was headed by Vo Van Thuong,alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party ofVietnam and member of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture,Education, Youth and Children./.
