In his opening speech, Thai Minister of Energy SiriJirapongphan said rising energy prices due to increasing demand and falling supplyhave prompted policies on adopting alternative energy sources and progressiveplanning for energy stability.
The event will help the country meet its energy transformation demands in allregards while the Ministry of Energy is currently developing a new renewableand alternative energy plan for 2015-2022 to keep up with the latest developmentsworldwide, he added.
Themed "E-Mobility Smart Grid Smart City," theevent displays state-of-the-art technology and latest energy innovations bypavilions from China, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan(China), Switzerland, the United States and over 1,200 industry-leading brandsacross the globe.
A number of exhibitions will demonstrate the potential ofThailand to be a leader in alternative energy and prepare for a low carbonsociety according to the Thailand 4.0 agenda.
The event will run until June 9 and is expected to attract more than30,000 participants from 45 countries.-VNA
