ASEAN senior labour officials gather online for 16th meeting
The 16th ASEAN Senior Labour Officials’ Meeting (SLOM) took place via video conference on October 26, with the participation of representatives from the 10 member states and the ASEAN Secretariat.

Hanoi (VNA) - The 16thASEAN Senior Labour Officials’ Meeting (SLOM) took place via video conferenceon October 26, with the participation of representatives from the 10 memberstates and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Speaking in Hanoi, Ha Thi Minh Duc, DeputyDirector of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs, updated officials on the progress and roadmap for implementingthe ASEAN Declaration on Human Resources Development for the Changing World ofWork.
Vietnam wishes to enhance ties with other membercountries and relevant international organisations to effectively carry out thedeclaration’s implementation roadmap, she said.
Participants were provided with updates from theASEAN Secretariat on progress in implementing decisions at ASEAN meetings regardingSLOM, along with information on the bloc’s recently-approved statements.
The Secretariat also spoke about the ASEANComprehensive Recovery Framework and its implementation plan.
Member countries considered and agreed uponlabour-related work plans for 2021-2025.
The SLOM is an annual meeting aiming to reviewthe implementation of activities by three working groups: the SLOM WorkingGroup on Progressive Labour Practices to Enhance the Competitiveness of ASEAN,the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on theProtection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers, and the ASEAN OccupationalSafety and Health Network./.
